Chris Hawkes

Associate Professor at University of Saskatchewan

Chris Hawkes is an associate professor in the Department of Civil, Geological and Environmental Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Prior to joining the U of S in 2002, he worked six years for Calgary-based consulting firm Advanced Geotechnology. Dr. Hawkes’ specializes in the application of rock engineering principles to challenges associated with subsurface fluid extraction and injection, with interests including wellbore stability, caprock integrity and hydraulic fracturing. His involvement with CO2 storage projects includes past service as a theme leader for the Weyburn-Midale CO2 Monitoring and Storage Project, and his current membership on the Science and Engineering Research Committee for the Aquistore Project.
